ROBERT WILSON

KIRKCONNEL MINER KILLED.

A distressing fatality occurred at Fauldhead Colliery, Kirkconnel, on Monday morning, the victim being a 29-year-old miner, Robert Wilson, who resided at 15 Polmeur Road. Wilson was working as a stripper at the conveyor face in Dempster's Mine Section of No. 1 Colliery, when a large stone fell from the roof and pinned him to the ground. He sustained severe multiple head injuries and died almost immediately. Workmates had succeeded in releasing Wilson and were carrying him towards the pit bottom when met by Dr Bruce. He is survived by a widow and two infant children.
