| 1953, 3rd September JAMES BURNS SANQUHAR MINER DIES After lying critically ill in Dumfries Infirmary for nine days following an accident in Tower Colliery, Deer Park Avenue, Sanquhar, died on Saturday morning. He sustained severe injuries when he was hit by a fall of stone while working at the coal face last Thursday. News of his passing has been received with regret in the district. He is survived by his widow and family. He was 48.
